Chained Beasts Multiplayer: Online, Local and Player Count
Check Chained Beasts player count, online and local co-op, same-screen controller requirements, and what the crossplay label confirms.
Chained Beasts supports one to four players total, including the host. Steam lists online co-op and local co-op, so a group can plan around either separate computers or a shared screen.
Which multiplayer options does Steam list?
| Mode or feature | Listed on Steam | What to check before you start |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player | Yes | Choose this if you want to learn alone |
| Online co-op | Yes | Confirm all players are using a compatible release |
| Shared/split-screen co-op | Yes | Have at least one gamepad available |
| Remote Play Together | Yes | Review Steam’s current hosting and input instructions |
| Cross-platform multiplayer | Yes | Confirm the exact platforms in your group |
The table reflects the store labels observed on October 16, 2026. It does not establish a separate test of every mode.
Is it four players or four friends plus the host?
Use the store’s 1–4 player description as the maximum group size. The launch announcement uses looser wording about playing with friends. Do not read that wording as a five-player limit when the game’s headline description says four total.
What do you need for local co-op?
The Windows and macOS requirements both state that at least one gamepad is needed for same-screen play. Arrange the input devices before a session rather than assuming several players can share one keyboard.
This guide does not invent a controller assignment screen or a join-button sequence. The exact interface needs verification against the installed version.
Does crossplay mean every platform combination works?
Steam marks cross-platform multiplayer and the developer’s launch post mentions online crossplay. That supports the presence of crossplay. It does not independently verify every PC-to-console combination, mixed local/online lobby, save transfer or account requirement.
Before buying specifically for a mixed-platform group, check the developer’s current instructions for that pairing. Avoid treating crossplay as a promise of cross-save.
What should the group agree on in the arena?
Pick a direction around obstacles and communicate before reversing it. The developer confirms that uncoordinated chains can tangle around pillars. A short movement call is a practical starting point; it is not a tested lobby or networking fix.
